2018 Ball!!!!

Our 2018 date for the Homeschool Civil War Ball has been set! It will be held on March, 24th 2018. We are excited to be in the same location as last time, which is the beautiful Moore Farms in Pryor, OK. You can find more out about our gorgeous venue under the Location tab.

What: You will feel like you're stepping back in time at this fun-filled family event. We will have a night full of learning historical dances and fellowshipping with other homeschool families. Period clothing is required to enter. Check out our Historical Costumes page for more info.
You need NO prior knowledge of the dances. We will have a dance caller who will be teaching as we go.

So I am extremely excited to announce where our upcoming Civil War Ball will be held.
We are using a gorgeous event barn at Moore Farms in Pryor, OK. This facility is over 6,500 sq. ft! It is elegant and rustic, all wrapped in one. The address is

Upcoming Ball!!!

We are very excited to announce that our upcoming ball will be on March 4, 2017.

We have some exciting new things happening at this event. We are changing our venue location to a beautiful rustic barn event venue in Pryor, OK. Also, we will be introducing you to a new band. They are homeschool family from around the Branson, MO area.

We have exactly one week until the 1800's Prairie Dance!!
Check-In will be from 5-5:30. The dancing will begin at 5:30.

So, I just realized that I had never posted on here about the next event we have scheduled. I want to deeply apologize for that. Here is the info, though

So I know everyone has been waiting to hear details for the fall ball. So, I have a date set in stone. Are you ready??? The Fall Ball will be held on
October 4th, 2014.
It will be held at the same location, but we're going to change it up a little. This is going to be more of an 1800's Prairie dance and Ice-Cream Social. The same modesty requirements are in place. However, it is more casual, so no need to wear hoops ladies! We do ask that all women be in floor length skirts or dresses, whether that's just a denim skirt or tiered cotton skirt, that's up to you. If you have prairie looking dresses-feel free to wear them. Men-need some ideas on how you can dress prairie-like? Throw on an old cowboy hat and some suspenders. But again, these are only a few ideas. Stay tuned for more dress code details. Have fun with it!
Even though we will have this as the theme for the ball in the Fall, we will keep the original Civil War theme for the one that takes place at the beginning of the year.

Ball a Success

Well another successful ball has come and gone. I want to thank everyone for coming and making the night so wonderful. I will be staying in contact about future balls that are being planned. Last year, we allowed people to pay at the door. Unfortunately, we will not be able to accommodate that this year, as we are at capacity.

Have Questions??

Here are some questions you might have about the ball. If you still have questions, feel free to contact me.

Q: Who can attend?

A: Homeschool students, homeschool graduates, and family. All ages are welcome. I know some parents that homeschooled their children, but now their children are grown and out of the house. They asked if they may attend. The answer is absolutely yes. This is a great fellowship for Christian homeschool families.

Q: What time should I arrive at the ball?

A: Check-In is from 6-7p.m. Although the ball does not start until 7p.m., the hour of check-in time is great for mingling and meeting new friends.

Q: Will there be a place for women to change into their outfits?

A: Yes. There is a room outside of the chapel where we will be using as a women's changing room.

Q: Do I have to dress up?

A: Yes, everyone is to dress in period costumes. Dressing in period costumes helps set the tone for stepping back in time; and makes the dancing and pictures all the more fun. You do not need to spend a fortune on your costume though. There are very inexpensive ways to make your own skirt, etc. See the Historical Outfits page for more details

Q: What if I've never attended a Civil War Ball?

A: Don't worry. You do not need to know any of the dances to attend. The dance caller will thoroughly go over each dance and make sure everyone understands before moving on.

Q: What can I expect?

A: You can expect a night full of great Christian fellowship with other homeschool families. Finger foods and light refreshments will be provided. A photographer will be present to photograph the event and will be selling a cd with the images for a very inexpensive price. Our venue is a gorgeous rustic barn with over 4,000 sq ft of dancing space. There will also be a string band playing while we dance.

Deadline Reminder

Just a reminder that the deadline to purchase tickets for the ball is February 1st. Also, the deadline to reserve or order a Civil War skirt is January 15th.

Hey everyone! Ball tickets are available for purchase beginning tomorrow, Nov. 1st. We have a few updates to our dress code. Go to our Historical Outfits page to view them. Also on that page, you can see information about a few new options we're providing for your convenience. This year, we will have Civil War Skirts available for rent or purchase. Hoop skirts will also be available for purchase.
