The
1800's Prairie Dance is a bit different than the usual Civil War
Ball. We will still be doing the old-fashioned dances, but the dress
code is more casual. Although you are not required to dress
historically accurate, we do ask that you dress with an old-fashioned
style to meet with the theme of prairie times. Just have fun with
it. I have posted some example photos below to give you a few ideas.
Men/Boys
This
is a very casual dance, so no need to have a special outfit. We do
ask that you do not wear t-shirts. Now is a fun time to get creative
with your outfit. Need some ideas? How about jeans, a cotton shirt,
suspenders, and a cowboy hat. Get as creative as you'd like, just
keep it modest and appropriate.
Ladies/Girls
This
dance is going to be more casual than the normal Civil War Ball. No
hoops/crinolines required at this event. Some ladies will be coming
in historical prairie dresses. Others will be wearing cotton tiered
skirts with a nice cotton shirt. All ladies/girls are required to
wear a skirt or dress. We do ask that all skirts/dresses be at least
ankle length. Want to get creative with a regular old outfit? You
could spruce up your attire with something cute such as a bonnet.

Note*
We
realize that families may differ in their definition of modesty and
our goal is not to be legalistic in the application. Rather, our
desire is to keep this event as pure as possible for all in
attendance.
This
is an event for the entire family. Therefore, to attend the dance,
there are a few modesty requirements.
All
skirts/dresses must be no shorter than ankle length. As we are
dancing, sometimes skirts tend to fly up without us noticing,
therefore we ask that you wear some type of leggings. Low cut
necklines, strapless, spaghetti straps, sleeveless, and
off-the-shoulder dresses/shirts are prohibited. There is to be
no cleavage exposed and all tops should cover the shoulder area where
a bra strap would normally be.
Unfortunately,
if you do not meet the modesty requirements upon arrival, you will
not be allowed to enter the building.
We know you
join us in wanting to make sure we are honoring Christ with all our
actions, including the manner in which we are dressing.
We
greatly appreciate your understanding.
